The big boy toys had to go somewhere and a 55ft x 35ft two story barn was needed. Each bay (three in total) is 13ft tall, and the upstairs measures 16 x 35. One bay is open to the roof ridge some 27ft and the balance of the barn has a 28 x 35 ft loft used for storage of lumber and up to 2000 bails of hay. The barn was constructed from whole trees between 18 and 14 inches felled on the property and the boards are all from homeowners trees also. In the right hand side of the barn a large 10 x 15ft panel is hinged for access of large equipment and easy loading of materials by backhoe. Each of the main beams are 45ft long and 18inches in diameter. The main support beams are 24 inches in diameter and 35ft tall sitting on footings 4ft underground. This barn adds a great deal of function to the property and keeps the toys nice and snug....so they say.
